A Gentle Approach

Honeysuckle Healing’s unique bodywork therapy services are a blend of myofascial release techniques, Reiki, intuitive somatic work, energywork and classic Swedish relaxation techniques. Gua sha and myofascial cupping are complimentary for every session. Post-session feedback focuses on mindfulness opportunities, breath awareness practices, stress management exploration, plus yoga inspired stretches and movement suggestions.

The deep relaxation achieved during a 60-90 minute bodywork session invites the body to heal by setting the nervous system into rest-and-digest. This increases blood flow while improving the immune system response. When received regularly, bodywork lowers blood pressure, decreases stress hormone production such as cortisol, and improves quality of sleep.

Myofascial release centers around the body's fascial system as a whole. Fascia is an intelligent connective tissue system that holds the habitual patterns of our bodies and minds. This therapy is scientific and intuitive, as fascia is integral to our physical framework, holding all the other systems of the body. When applied consistently, myofascial release therapy supports making structural changes at a deep level.

Intuitive somatics is another term for attuned and liberated embodiment. Bodywork sessions include opportunities to lean into presence, to be authentic to the present lived experience in your body with no judgement or expectations. The quality of our experiences vary wildly and it's all welcome to be witnessed intentionally in this healing space. Your body is you. Choosing embodiment as a practice is a skill that refines our ability to self-regulate and move through our lives with more awareness and compassion for ourselves and others.

I have seen many massage therapists in the past, and Elizabeth is by far the best. She listens carefully and asks good questions to ascertain my needs at each appointment and then tailors her treatment accordingly. Her myofascial release work has enabled me to unwind longtime patterns in my body, allowing me to move, walk, and breathe more comfortably. I highly recommend her.

Bodywork + Massage Services

All of these modalities are blended together in my offering of Therapeutic bodywork. Each session is a uniquely concocted blend of the above techniques depending on the needs of the client and ability of the practitioner.

Swedish Relaxation

Swedish relaxation components include effleurage, petrissage, and slower paced movements to help the nervous system unwind. Benefits include an increased flow of blood to all the organs and limbs, induced relaxation which lowers blood pressure, decreases stress levels and somatic pain levels, increases sleep quality, improves mood and immune system responsiveness, improves appetite, decreases symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Myofascial Therapy

Myofascial therapy is a blend of approaches to making change in the fascial system. These evidence-based techniques range from gentle transverse plane holds to petrissage, muscle stripping, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Benefits include increased range of motion, decrease in somatic pain, increase in ease of body movements, more blood flow, overall decrease in body tension accumulation patterns over time.

Reiki

Reiki is an energy work technique that has been around for thousands of years, but this particular technique came from Japan and has been widespread due to it’s miraculous healing benefits experienced from practicing and receiving it. Reiki includes hands-on healing of the body in areas of pain, or areas of concentrated stagnant energy. Benefits include increased sense of well being, increased sense of optimism, emotional releases that move blockages out of the body, increase in prana and chi and decrease in anxiety and depression.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient tool (originally from Traditional Chinese Medicine but also found in Earth based cultures all over the world) that’s still used today because it’s highly effective at supporting the body’s natural healing process. (Silicone) cupping is a practice of using suction cups to manipulate the tissue upwards to release built up energy, tension, and stagnacy in the body. It pulls blood into or away from the area and triggers the immune response.

Gua sha

Gua sha is another ancient tool originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine but adapted to more than the meridians for treatment. It is used to break up stagnant tissue and increase blood flow and tissue recovery to the selected area.
